EPO

EP VALIDATION

Are you seeking protection for your patent in Europe? After examination, the European Patent Office (EPO) issues a communication of art. 71(3) which indicates the intention to grant your patent. The applicant will now need to submit payment of fees and file required translation of claims into French, German and English. Hudson Translations offers these translation services and assists in the EP validation process that follows.

Upon receiving a grant notice from the EPO (art. 97(1)) the applicant has three (3) months from the publication date to validate the patent in the various EPO member states. EP validations are tedious, as each country has different submission forms and translation requirements. Furthermore, each validation must be carried out by a local agent in each country. With a single set of instructions, Hudson Translations will handle the filings from start to finish to ensure all EP translation and validation requirements are met. Our transparent fee schedules save our clients an average of 40%.
